Auditions Preparation

In order to help with voicing and character placement, there will be five song cuts for you to choose from. Pick one of these below to perform at auditions on the Nov 10th. Choose the song you’d like to perform based on which character or type of character interests you.

You do not need to be memorized, but you should BE FAMILIAR and feel confident with the MUSIC. Right notes and rhythms are important, but telling the story and making character choices are also important. If you are interested in a specific part, I encourage you to audition IN CHARACTER. Don’t be afraid to take chances. Overall, being prepared will help you feel at ease with the whole audition process and will hopefully allow you to feel a bit more comfortable. NOTE: You will be grouped by grade levels (7-9 & 10-12) for both singing & dancing.

Below are scenes that will be read at BOTH auditions and callbacks. Familiarize yourself with these excerpts in case you get called back to read for certain characters. A short dance combination will also be taught at the auditions. No dance preparation is necessary, but DO wear clothes/shoes you can move in.

Acting scenes:

Music Director, Terry Barrier, has prepared the musical excerpts below for your auditions! It’s a great idea to watch a high school production on YouTube prior to auditions so you are familiar with the show

NOTE: We ask that phones are not used for recording yourself or others during auditions to respect each other's privacy!
